MTB Coaching Gaining Confidence Program

WHAT IS A BEGINNER 'GAINING CONFIDENCE' MTB COACHING PROGRAM?

Our beginner 'Gaining Confidence' mtb coaching program was originally created for people who have completed our beginner 'Back to Basics' mountain bike coaching program but are not yet ready to move on to our intermediate program. Feedback from our beginners was they wanted to continue practicing many of the skills they learned during our beginner 'Back to Basics' mountain bike coaching program, but wanted professional guidance while they did so. And so, our beginner 'Gaining Confidence' mtb coaching program was born to meet that requirement.
This program is also suitable for people who have NOT done our beginner 'Back to Basics' mountain bike coaching program but who have ridden mountain bikes ridden for awhile and at least have some basic skills.
Momentum Is Your Friend employs PMBIA and MTBA accredited coaches.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Each session will about riding various trails and applying and honing the basic learned skills as the riders need. This will greatly aid in giving the riders the confidence to take those skills to the trail whenever they wish and help move them from being a beginner rider toward an intermediate level.

Skills learned will include similar skills to our beginner 'Back to Basics' mountain bike coaching program but on different trails and terrains:

  • Correct positioning on the bike
  • Choosing the best lines
  • Cornering
  • Correct gear changing
  • Correct braking
  • Getting over small obstacles
  • and more.

Note: Session and program content may be altered at the coaches discretion for reasons of safety, weather, to better cater for the riders or other requirements.

SESSIONS

Our beginner 'Gaining Confidence' mtb coaching program consists of up to 3 sessions and delivered over several weeks.
These are group sessions for people from 13 yrs old and up. Each group may contain up to approx 8 riders and typically last for around 3 hours.

WHAT YOU NEED

Mountain Bike

Although your mountain bike can be entry level, it is required that your bike is fitted with mountain bike tyres and not touring/semi-slick tyres. If you are unsure, please ask us. We do ask that, to the best of your ability, that you try to ensure your bike is in good working order prior to the class.

Helmet

You are required to wear a correctly fitting, Australian approved helmet during all sessions.

Knee and/or Elbow Pads (optional)

Although not compulsory, we do recommend considering extra protection in the form of soft shell pads. You not only gain the protection but also the confidence that comes from knowing you have the protection.
